This game started from a simple question: what does an ordinary human apartment look like when you are the size of a fingernail and everything in it is in your way? The answer turned out to be more interesting than we expected. A gas stove stops being furniture and becomes a full-height obstacle. A hi-fi system becomes a source of vibration you want to get away from. The kitchen floor becomes an open world.

What you actually do

You can do nothing at all and just crawl. The apartment is built as a real level: objects behave consistently, you can climb them, get under them, hide behind them. Plenty of players spend the first half hour simply finding out what moves in here.

If you want a goal, there are missions. They read like complaints from the neighbours downstairs: make a mess, reach the food, deal with the other roaches on your turf. Finished jobs pay out in coins and achievements.

About the other roaches

Not all of them are enemies. Alongside the ones that attack, medic roaches walk the apartment and will restore your health for a small fee. We added them once it became clear that, with no way to catch your breath, the game turns into one long escape.

The vents

The apartment is not the end of it. There is ventilation inside the walls, and it leads onward — to where the next part of the game begins. Most people do not find it straight away, and we deliberately never point at it.

Scurry through rooms on several floors, ride the elevator and even ride cars. Find the ventilation and follow it all the way out to a new world beyond the house. This roach game is all about curiosity, mischief and survival. Every room is a playground for a bug. Grab a snack in the kitchen, sneak past the humans and chase rival roaches out of your territory.
